Lives affected and lives lost:
I was asked to walk in the October 24th "Step Out" with my roommate for
her Dad. He is a pretty awesome guy, and I am happy to do this.
I think that just one person with a life altering and threatening disease is
enough that we should take action, but since I (amazingly) do not
currently know anyone else with the disease, I wanted to make those of
you who can't come walk an offer:

I am frustrated and need to vent.

I am designing the costumes for a production of "Clue! The Musical!" at a small Equity house in the middle of Redneckville, MO. This script calls for the Maid, Mrs. White, to be played by a man. Funny! Well, I think so anyway. Apparently the Board of Directors doesn't though (the same BoD that selected the scripts for the season mind you...) They are now well and fully stuck with the decision though as advertising has gone out and rehearsal has started. They expressed their concern to me and the director. They are concerned that we will offend our patrons and it was even brought up that we might be endangering our actor! (fucking yikes! Not cool!) We agreed that it would probably be better received if we make him a very old very manish and doughy looking old woman. (I am going to be so good at building fat suits by the time this season is over!) They asked me to make it as "non draggy" as possible. Okay, fine, whatever. The Pillsbury Dough boy's grandmother is probably not sexy, so I think I can do that.

Then five minutes later the director e-mails me and asks me if I can build a Carmen Miranda hat for Mrs. White's musical number "Life is a bowl of pits".

This makes me wonder if: A. she has ever seen a drag show... ever. and B. If she was at the same meeting I was.

I then had a dream last night (in the two and a half hours that I was actually able to sleep) that I had to buy this poor kid a gun so he didn't have to worry about being lynched for doing THE JOB HE WAS HIRED TO DO!

I will be so glad to be out of this freaking podunk bass akwards place.
